This little fowl of mine,
‘I want no trouble,’ she said
But she perched on a rope.
The rope was unsteady,
And the fowl was uneasy;
To and fro she swung
Until I came to rescue.
To the bottled corn she flew
And started looking around
Until I opened the bottle.
She ate the corn
And ran to the water,
She drank the water
And ran to the pebbles,
She swallowed some pebbles,
And she came to complain
That she had no teeth.
This growing fowl of mine
Always sings at home.
But she chose a cock
In a far place.
For days she left home,
‘Where is my fowl?’ I searched,
And days and nights I watched
Whether she would return
And let me have my heart back.
One day she came
But soon she was ready to leave.
So I decided to trace her
To where she laid her eggs.
Inside the bush she stayed,
And five eggs she laid;
But only two she hatched.
The rest were wasted.
This blanched fowl of mine
Realized not her old age
And she cared not for her chicks.
One of them died of cold
And the hawk caught the other.
Now my fowl is furious,
She fights other fowls at home
But always run from the hawk
That took away her chick.
Now tell me my fowl
The good you have given,
Fruitful or fruitless?
One day you will give account.
Meditation Note: When God created the first man (Adam), He blessed him with a lot of resources. He breathed unto him the breath of life; and this made him a living soul. He created him to be different from plant and other living things like dog, goat, sheep, etc. In fact, the trinity united together to create him and they created him in their own image. God also blessed him and his family to be fruitful and have dominion over all other things He has created.
Beloved, as the descendant of Adam you have all the resources God had bestowed on him. God also redeemed you by sending his Son to die for you; He created an eternal link between you and Him. And with all these treasures (opportunities) He has given you, He is counting on you to execute His plans on earth. To whom much is given, much more is expected; and whatsoever is worth doing at all is worth doing well. You must therefore be fruitful in everything He has committed into your hands. You have no excuse to fail. You have to fulfill His plan and purpose concerning you and not just to waste your life (His precious gift). Fruitfulness and fullness are the products (evidences) of fulfillment, but faithfulness is the engine that produces them. Be faithful to God in the little He has committed into your hands and He will bring increase. Do not disappoint Him; do not be like the unfaithful fowl (Gen 1:26-28, 2:7; Matthew 25:14-30)
