Days and nights have I toiled
Until I reached the mountain top.
There I can see the whole world
But I hardly notice that I’m up.
For my inner eye sees most.

In my toiling I was taught
That I need not to boast.
So as I chat with the elephants,
I also chat with the ants.
I never trample them under feet.

On that mountain my eyes saw a wonder.
The birds have their nests cleaved together,
The eagles never claim their dominion
And I say this is amazing union.
Because they all play with one another.

Now my coat of mail has crumbled
And my thundering voice has ceased.
The children can come with laughter,
And I will carry them to my shoulders
So they can see more of the world.
