If there is no end, then there is no beginning. A new beginning means the end of an old session, season, life, etc. It is the beginning of a new dawn. It is a time of change.

A new beginning can be for an individual as well as an organization or a nation. To a child that is just born, a new life has started. To a couple that just wedded a new beginning has started. An organization may decide to appoint a new leader or catch a new vision. A nation may just gained an independent, just elected a new president or has just been declared free from the spread of a dreaded disease. It is a new beginning. Also, maybe you just built a new house and seize to be a tenant or you just got a new job that swallowed all the suffering and poverty you have encountered in life. You are experiencing a new beginning. And above all, you can have a new beginning with the Lord. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5: 17.

There is glory and joy in something new. And it is possible for the joy of a new beginning to last long, in fact throughout one’s life. However, we must take note of the following cardinal points.

  1. As glorious a new beginning may be, it amounts to nothing if its end is bad/shameful.  In Ecclesiastes 7:8 the bible says “Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof….” King Saul started well as the first king of Israel. One day he had a glorious new beginning- 1Samuel 11:15 “And all the people went to Gilgal; and there they made Saul king before the LORD in Gilgal; and there they sacrificed sacrifices of peace offerings before the LORD; and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.” But not far long he disobeyed God, the spirit of Lord departed from him, an evil spirit came to trouble him, and finally he was rejected by God. He ended on a sad note. Brethren, it is dangerous to be discarded by God. You will never experience it in Jesus name.
  2. A new beginning can either be for promotion or demotion. It is possible for us not to hear about David if not for the sin of King Saul (1 Sam 15:24, 26). He was demoted and David was enthroned. A new beginning started for both of them but one is negative and the other is positive. “And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlemhemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.” 1Samuel 16:1. Beloved, it is good to be a champion but very bad to be an ex-champion. The heights we attained can only be retained by the right we maintained. You will not start a new beginning of shame in Jesus name.
  3. How the beginning looks like may not really matter but how you handle it matters. David was anointed to be the king but years he was in the bush. How you laid the foundation is very important. Job 8:7 says “Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.” Know that your stability depends not on your stature but on your posture. You may start small or in a rough way today but if you keep on trusting the Lord and do those things pleasing in his sight. He will take you to greater height, beyond your imagination. “But as it is written, eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9. It is well with you in Jesus name.
