AN ADDRESS PRESENTED BY THE PRINCIPAL, COMMUNITY SECONDARY SCHOOL, EZZAINYIMAGU, MR. AWURU E. JAMES DURING THE COMMISSIONING OF CORPER OLAOYE OMOTAYO’S PROJECTS

The Honourable Commissioner for Education,
The Director of NYSC, Ebonyi State,
The Executive Chairman of Izzi L.G.A,
The NYSC Zonal Inspector, Izzi L.G.A,
The Corps members here present,
Tutorial & Non Tutorial C.S.S. Ezzainyimagu staff,
Ladies and Gentlemen.

I wish to express my sincere appreciation and profound gratitude to be granted a say in this epoch making occasion.

I wish to first of all commend those who despite their crowded schedules found time to grace this occasion. The commissioning of Corper Olaoye’s project here in C.S.S Enyigwe, Ezzainyimagu is an event celebrated at the right time, by the right people and at the right place.

I came here and met Corper Olaoye, Omotayo Oluwafemi very determined and desirous to offer something to the school, even if it entails sacrificing his resources.

His dream and desire for the school and the community came through and today we are here to witness the commissioning of his projects. Olaoye is a multi-talented, promising and hard working Corper. Please permit me to enumerate some of his achievements.

  • He carried out his primary assignment here- Community Secondary School, Enyigwe, Ezza-Inyimagu, Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi state. There was no Book-keeping/Accounts when he came to the school and having known the importance of the subject (as a graduate of Accounting), he introduced it. He is the Commerce and Book-keeping/Accounts Teacher of SS 1 to SS 3 students of the school.

  • He started the school Library by donating Bookshelf and different textbooks on the following subject: English Language, Mathematics, Government, Commerce, Book-keeping & Accounts, Further Mathematics, Christian Religious Knowledge and Business study.
  • He donated the school Notice Board

  • He donated the school signpost
  • He composed the school Anthem
  • He took active part in moral instructions for the students
  • He wrote the proposed Handbook for secondary school students in Ebonyi state
  • He monitored the Federal Government’s Poverty Alleviation Programme in one of the wards (Agbaja III) in Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi state.
  • He was the Zonal coordinator of Nigeria Christian Corpers’ Fellowship (NCCF) in Izzi Local Government and the fellowship carried out three (3) days crusade in two villages (Nwezenyi and Ndubia) of the Local Government. During the crusades, there were film shows, drama presentation and free medical treatment. Above all, the gospel was preached and people surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ.

The above projects were not his initial plan for the school and the community in general, but time and financial constraints made him to execute these projects within the shortest possible time.

I am therefore, recommending him for National, State and Local government awards. The principal, staff and students of CSS, Ezzainyimagu and the entire community will ever live to remember the legacy he left behind and promise to make good use of them. I am assuring you that his name is already written with indelible ink by the entire community. God will reward him. As I encourage him to continue with this type of zeal wherever he goes, I will also appeal to the state NYSC director to post not less than 15 Corpers to my school next term and resist their request for reposting. We promise to make life comfortable for them.

At this junction, I say once more, welcome to you all who graced this occasion and I wish you journey mercies back to your destinations.

Thanks.

Awuru, James E.
Principal, CSS Ezzainyimagu

AN ADDRESS PRESENTED BY OLAOYE, OMOTAYO O. (EB/99/060) DURING THE COMMISSIONING OF HIS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

The Commissioner for Education,
The NYSC Director,
The State Auditor General,
The Chairman of Izzi L.G.A,
The PTA Chairman,
The Principal,
The staff and students of C.S.S. Ezza-inyimagu,
The NYSC Zonal Inspector, Izzi L.G.A,
Patriotic Corps members,
All invited Guest,
Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen.

I glorify the name of the living God, the creator of heaven and earth; who has made it possible for us to witness this occasion. I also thank Him for giving me the grace to have the vision that made it possible for me to stand before you today. I am indeed grateful.

Napoleon Hill in his book “Think and grow rich” stated that ‘an educated man is the one who has acquired knowledge and skills without affecting the right of others.’ Knowledge is power, and power directs all aspects of development of a nation like ours, Nigeria. Presently the quest for knowledge is at its peak in every state of the country, especially in a newly created state like Ebonyi.

Education is one of the means of acquiring knowledge and that is why the state government under the leadership of the Executive Governor, Dr. Sam O. Egwu, is spending a lot of resources on Education. To support his effort on free education programme and to see that the teaching staff and students of this school have current text books to read, I have donated a book shelf and the text books to the school.

Furthermore, the question “is this the school?” struck me when I first came from the NYSC orientation Camp. There was no signpost in front of the school to welcome people, especially the visitors. The absence of this necessitated my choosing to construct a signpost to tell visitors and passersby that a Secondary School is at Enyigwe.

Also, having realized the importance of information in any organization/ establishment, I have decided to do the Notice board as a means of passing information across to the students and staff of the school. Lack of timely information has caused many problems such as when and how to take actions in many institutions. With the help of this notice board, I believe that all necessary information concerning the running and development of the school would be passed to the staff and students in good time.

I have submitted a proposal to build a pit-toilet at the school but due to time, labour and financial constraints I have to stop the construction. I therefore use this opportunity to encourage the school authority to support any other corps members that wish to execute the project.

Indeed it has not been easy sourcing for fund. But glory be to God who always makes provision available. I therefore wish to extend my profound gratitude and sincere appreciation to some individuals that supported my vision and contributed in no small measure both morally and financially for the execution of the projects. I have to acknowledge the assistance of Izzi local government council, my fellow corps members and all the staff, students and PTA members of this citadel of learning. God will reward all of you.

At this junction, I wish to thank all those that came to witness this occasion. You are all welcome and I pray that the Almighty God will continue to be with you. Thanks and God bless you all. Amen.
