When we were much younger, we used to follow our Daddy to the farm, and when we had finished the day’s work we were always in a rush to go home, leaving our Daddy behind to do one thing or the other. At times he may set traps for the farm animals after we had gone home. The big traps were always buried in the ground, in a way nobody would notice that something is there, and the animals would run into it in ignorance. Also, anybody could mistakenly step on it.

Since we knew not when and where the traps were laid, the first thing our Daddy would do when we got to the farm on the following day was to warn us that a trap is at so and so place and we should be very careful going there. That information is very useful; it saves and without it somebody could be in danger.

Beloved, if the physical traps are laid in such a way that you would not notice them, how much more of the spiritual traps (snares)? Or know you not that there are dangerous spots as you pass through the journey of life? Psalms 38:12 says “they also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.” The world has been in existence several years before you find yourself in it. The devil also has been in the world for ages and he knows about your life, he knows where you are passing everyday and he is the one setting traps so that you can fall into it. It does not matter whether you offend him or not, he is the arch enemy of mankind and he sees you as a prey (John 10:10). He is busy setting traps of sickness, poverty, failure, stagnation, disappointment, etc and whosoever refuses to walk uprightly will one day step into it. However, God who created the world knows much more about it. He knows what you don’t know. He knows where the traps are laid and He is ready to save you. In Psalms 91: 3 He promises to deliver you from the traps of the enemies- “Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.”

Howbeit, because the dangerous spots are hidden to the naked eyes, you need to maintain a good relationship with God before you can see and avoid them. So in this world you cannot save your life; you need divine security. You need Jesus, the Saviour to help you out, you need Him to deliver you out of the wiles of the enemies. So that you too can testify and say “blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth. Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare (trap) of the fowlers (hunters): the snare is broken, and we are escaped. Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth. Psalms 124:6-8”

Apart from enjoying divine security here on earth, eternity in heaven is also guaranteed if you surrender your life to Jesus Christ and remain in him. Roman 3:23 says “for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” and in chapter 6 verses 23 it says “for the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Therefore, you need to confess Jesus as your Lord and Saviour now. Because there is no other way to make heaven, only Jesus can save you. Only Him can give you divine security, and also help you get to the glorious home- heaven. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved- Act 4:12.
